Chacarita Juniors said farewell to Héctor Alterio, whom the club remembered as an unconditional fan, after he published a message on social media highlighting the lifelong bond he maintained with the institution and his artistic legacy.
"Today Chacarita says goodbye to Héctor Alterio. Chacarita Juniors bid him farewell as one of their own, in an emotional day remembering a faithful fan who carried the club in his heart until the end," the club said through its official X account.
The club noted that throughout his life, Alterio never hid his passion for Chacarita, which he supported as a regular fan and which became part of his personal identity.
Born on September 21, 1929, in Chivilcoy, Buenos Aires province, he trained in independent theater and from the 1950s became a cultural reference. "An immense artist, an unforgettable voice, and a fan who carried 'The Undertaker' (the club's nickname) in his heart throughout his life," the club expressed.
The message was quickly shared by members, sympathizers, and cultural figures, who praised both his professional career and his identification with the club's tricolor colors.
Alterio was one of the most prominent figures in Argentine acting, with a career spanning film, theater, and television, which also had a notable development in Spain. His unmistakable voice, stage presence, and interpretive depth led him to star in fundamental films of national cinema.
Among his most recognized works are La tregua (1974), No habrá más penas ni olvido (1983), The Official Story (1985), winner of an Oscar, and Son of the Bride (2001).
During the last military dictatorship, he went into exile in Spain, where he continued his career with great international prestige. Father of actor Ernesto Alterio, Héctor left an indelible mark on Argentine culture.
